Emma Bacarra is an undergraduate at the University of Washington. She studies in the majors of physics and astronomy, with a minor in data science. Her current research involves the analysis of the Cosmic Microwave Background with deep learning. Previously, she searched for potential black hole candidates using the photometric data of binary systems. Emma’s interests include machine learning, cosmology, and high energy physics.
As the outreach coordinator for the Department of Astronomy, Emma also enjoys working with the academic advisors in support of the students and faculty. She helps organize department events and provides resources for student engagement. In her leisure, Emma is fond of dance and art.
